The Truth About Growing Taller

Whatever Your Age Is, You Can Still Grow Taller!

“Wait, what?” Whatever Your Age Is, You Can Still Grow Taller!

Sounds clear now? Yes, you read that right. Whether you’re 21, 25, 35, or 40, you can still add inches to your height.

There are several ways on how to make yourself taller using various techniques and natural methods, and I will be discussing the most effective, time-tested ones in this article.

But first, let’s talk about the factors that affect our height.

Genetic Factors

A person’s height is highly determined by this hormone in the body known as Human Growth Hormone (HGH).

HGH is secreted by the pituitary gland, the master gland in the body, and is essential for the growth of bones and cartilage. The greater the amount of HGH, the taller we grow, and this varies from person to person.

Since we get older and reach adulthood, the body's ability to produce this hormone slows down, and we find it rather difficult to increase our height any further.

This is where the various methods and techniques for increasing HGH naturally come into play.

Non-Genetic Factors

Genetic Factors

Non-genetic factors such as diseases, posture, hormonal imbalances, and lack of physical activity can all be determinants for growth potential too.

Most of these factors are governed by our environment which we have control over unlike genetics, which is purely hereditary.

The list includes:

  • Lack of physical activity likes sports.
  • Disorder of endocrine glands that causes hormonal imbalances.
  • Exposure to cigarettes during fetal development.
  • Diseases during childhood or puberty.
  • Quality of parental or postnatal care.

Now that we have a good understanding on how these factors affect our growth, let's talk about the several things we can do to reach our full height potential.

With that in mind, here are the top ways on how to make yourself taller naturally.

Tips On How To Make Yourself Taller Naturally

1. Get Adequate Sleep

Get Adequate Sleep

While all the tips that I will be discussing in this article on how to make yourself taller are important, getting adequate sleep is the most important of all.

As discussed earlier, HGH plays a huge role in the development of our bones and cartilages. When you sleep, that is when your body produces the most amount of HGH than any time of your day. So it's just common sense to think that if you're not getting an adequate amount of sleep, your body won't produce a good amount of this hormone too.

Remember when you were still a child and your Mom kept telling you to sleep a lot so you can be tall as Daddy? That still holds true today.

2. Up Your Nutrition

Up Your Nutrition

Eating healthy is mandatory not only for the body to function optimally, but for the growth hormones to be excreted in good amounts.

Make sure you are sticking to a healthy balanced diet and getting enough calories from proteins, fats - not too much fats, and carbohydrates to support further growth. You should also avoid junk foods altogether.

One way to up your nutrition is by the use of supplements. These are the essential ones for growth:

  • Calcium - This nutrient is vital for the growth and maintenance of strong bones and cartilages.
  • Vitamin D - Vitamin D is a nutrient that enhances calcium absorption.
  • Zinc - Zinc deficiency leads to stunted growth.

3. Exercises

Do Exercises

If you're still young and growing, you can amplify this growth by engaging in sports such as swimming, running, biking, etc. Exercising sends signals to the body to regulate the nutrition flow to your bones, thus making them long and strong.

On the other hand, adults will not see much height increase through sports because most probably their growth plates have closed already. This is not to say that there's no other way.

In fact, studies show that through various exercises that lengthen and straighten the spine, you can still add a few inches to your frame!

These are the exercises that lengthen and straighten your spine:
